DYEING : Important definitions of dyeing:

Hope everyone will be benefited at least a bit from this post.don't forget to share to see others or to give your valuable comment if you have any more to add.

Important definitions of  dyeing:
1.    Shade %
2.    color strike
3.    Exhaustion
4.    fixation
5.    Fastness

1. Shade
Shade means depth of color. It is expressed in % on the weight of materials.
Example: 1% shade owf(on the weight of) or 5% shade owf means we need 5 kg dyes per 100 kg of fabric in dyeing process.
    Shade can be classified as:
Light shade(Ls)= upto 0.5%dyes owf
Medium shade(Ms)= 0.6%-1.5% dyes owf
Dark shade (Ds)= 1.6+ % dyes owf
2. Color strike
Initial exhaustion of dyes by the textiles in a dye bath is called color strike.
3. Exhaustion (E%)
Total amount of dyes absorbed by the textile material in a dye bath.
40 kg dyes, exh-30%, waste-10%
 so total E%=30/40*100=75%
4. Fixation (F %)
F% = Total amount of dyes finally fixed with textile material is known as Fixation.
     F% = (washing loss+ soaping loss+ any other loss)
            =75%-[7%+5%+3%]
            =(75-15)%
            =60%
* M:L ratio
